It's been a while, I know.

It's spring break! I'm heading to Montreal in a couple days, but for now, I'm relaxing at home, watching a crapload of Netflix and doing lots of work for the magazine and the fashion show.

OH OH OH I GOT AN INTERNSHIP IN NEW YORK! I officially will NOT be bumming around New York this summer. Instead, I will have a legitimate, resume-worthy experience! Hurrah! I'm going to be working in the fashion department at a magazine, which you will surely hear about later, but for now, that's all you get :P

KellyAnn of I Borrowed Your Silver Boots tagged me!
This is so hypocritical of me but I am a huge fail at tagging others, so I'm not going to. And yet, it's slightly irking when others do the same...major sorries!
I will, however, complete the other part of this tag:

7 things about me
1. I am going to be 20 in a week. EEK! This is my last week of being a teenager!
2. I really like gummies. Gummy worms, gummy bears, gummy fish, gummy sharks, gummy frogs, gummy fruit, gummy peach rings......and of course, gummy mexican hats.
3. I could watch The Proposal over and over and over (and I have) and I'm not ashamed to say it.
4. I see right triangles the way Haley Joel Osment sees dead people.
5. Veronica Mars is smarter than me.
6. I don't understand why so many of these facts are about movies and television.
7. Netflix is my life.

partyin' partyin' YEAH!

Spring is finally here! (I hope...the forecast says it might snow next week whattttt)

But yesterday it was SEVENTY-ONE DEGREES and SUNNY (and super windy but that's cool) and it was absolutely gorgeous and perfect and everyone was outside and HAPPY and LOVIN' LIFE.

When summer starts to come around, all I want to do is wear and different dress errday, so obvz I couldn't just wear a dress that I've worn before, I had to spend my midday 3-hour chunk of free time sewing instead of something slightly more important like eating lunch or doing homework...

But anyway, I dug through my storage boxes and found THIS GEM
that I bought on Etsy in October with the intention of DIY-ing it into something better.

So finally I did, and there ya go.

dress, DIY.
earrings (WHICH ARE THE EXACT SAME COLORS), Aldo.

I have this one friend who is nonstop-around-the-clock busy. He stays up all night on a regular basis, is never home and always has a mile-long to-do list. He doesn't do anything therapeutic, and if I had that kind of life, I would implode and then explode and then get put back together and explode again.

But as for myself, I need to do therapeutic activities for my mental well-being. I sew, I bake, I shop, I draw and craft, I watch TV and read the news, I do the crossword puzzle -- it's all extremely important to me.

A big thing for me is the need for change. I constantly rearrange my furniture, both at home and in my dorm room, just to refresh my environment a little. I get frustrated by my hair because I don't know how to make it very different with each haircut. And I totally soak in all the wonderful change that happens when new friends are made, new opportunities arise and new places can be discovered. But when there's a period where change is lacking, I start to feel like I'm outside myself, like I'm just watching my own world happen, like I'm watching a TV show. I've been having those moments lately, so this week, I'm going to change my room decor. I spent the afternoon taking the million photos down from my wall, and I'm super excitedly planning how to make it better. (so stay tuned!)

What do you do when you feel stuck in a rut, distressed, or in need of something therapeutic?

oh sweet nothin'

It's barely noon and today has already been a great day -- the two iced coffees and shot of espresso I had were probably a strong contributing factor. I was totally perky at work, despite having a 6:30AM shift on a Monday morning, and we blasted dance pop all morning long!

Today I'm:
1. baking these cookies
to feed to the attendees of #4...oreos and chocolate chip cookies all in one?! whoever came up with that idea is a GENIUS.
2. shipping an etsy order
I haven't done much etsy-biz stuff lately but there's new stuff in the works!
3. teaching art to elementary schoolers
We're makin' pretty pictures with scratchboards today :)
4. running the first meeting for a fashion magazine I'm starting at school!
I'm so so so so so excited about this. My friend and I are putting it together, and when the first issue comes out, I will definitely send you the link! (It's gonna be a webzine)
5. attending a lecture by Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the Chief Creative Officer of Hermès
He graduated from Brown in '91 whatwhat represent!

so all in all, a PRETTY FREAKING AWESOME DAY IF YOU ASK ME.
Which you didn't, but IF YOU DID, I would say today is AWESOME.

(It was actually way colder than I thought, so mentally replace those shoes with knee-high black suede boots.)

Today is one of those days that LOOKS warm and springy but ACTUALLY it's freezing and windy and 20 degrees. The plus side is that I can still wear sunglasses no matter how cold it is! :D

wave your hands in the sky right now

This particular shade of orange-ish red is totally my color. I somehow own lots of it, and I'd wear it every day if that didn't mean that all the other wonderful colors would get the shaft.

The weird thing is, I don't even particularly like the color red. There's something about it that makes it stand on its own without any other colors beside it, which makes it unappealing to me -- you all know I LOVE to mix color on top of color on top of color. The lack of mixability that red seems to have, at least for me, kind of turns me off.

But this shade, this particular shade, totally works for me.

What's your favorite particular shade?
