monochromatic: BLUE

Next Wednesday is Wear Purple Day, and in the days leading up, I'm going monochromatic!
See RED & ORANGE YELLOW & GREEN here.

Blue day was so easy - wearing head-to-toe blue is like, no biggie, yo.

Also I just re-watched Notting Hill while on bedrest yesterday, and there's that one outfit Julia Roberts wears when she goes to the bookstore for the last time to give Hugh Grant the Chagall painting and asks him to love her and like and IDIOT he says no and it's just super sad. But it's okay because the ending is happy :) OH THE OUTFIT - she's wearing a blue ombre top with a blue skirt and blue cardigan and it's like, totally normal.

Have a good day!

And don't forget to
WEAR PURPLE TOMORROW!

These photos are terrible, I know - iPhoto is the worst application to edit photos in ever. The quality just goes KAPLUT.

blue on the way shortly!

monochromatic: YELLOW

Major apologies for the lack of recent updates - I've been sick in bed for a couple days. But I still managed to put on some COLLUHH (that's COLOR with an UH)
Wore this to run to CVS to get Dayquil and cough drops. :)
Then immediately got back into bed and slept for the whole day. :(

I am feeling much better today after spending so much time in bed.

Why is it that wearing head-to-toe black or white or blue is not a big deal, but if I go out in FULL ON YELLOW, people shoot me stares right and left?!

Green and blue posts to come!

monochromatic: ORANGE

Next Wednesday is Wear Purple Day, and in the days leading up, I'm going monochromatic!
See RED here.

I had to cheat a little today because I don't own a whole lot of orange (which is seriously a travesty!) so I brought in a little dark grey. Which is fine because I look like a carrot anyway. Maybe a pumpkin - it is almost Halloween after all.
It's kinda just a lazy, comfy outfit for a lazy, comfy Saturday afternoon - tonight is girls' night and my friends and I are getting all dolled up and going out! So I'm spending my day inside sewing a brand new LBD for the occasion :)

Happy ORANGE day!

monochromatic: RED/PINK

monochromatic week!
Next Wednesday is Wear Purple Day [just one of many facebook events], to honor the students who have recently committed suicide after being bullied about being gay. (see here) It's extremely sad that this has been happening and is continuing to happen, and it's clear that something needs to be done to change people's attitudes towards homosexuality. I don't understand why this is still an issue. GLBTQ people are people - why haven't people learned from the women's rights movement, civil rights movement, the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION that denying people rights is just WRONG?! We need acceptance, equality, respect - these are all things we supposedly value. But clearly we're failing.

On a lighter note, between today and Wednesday, there are six days. Inspired by none other than Susie Bubble herself, I've decided to dress up as the rainbow from now until Wednesday! So today is
RED(and pink!) DAY!

pink and purple

I'm still a dying frogman, and this is not okay with me. But any excuse to sleep as much as humanly possible is TOTEZ alright with me.
So yeah, this is Tuesday's outfit, and today is Thursday, but YAKNOWWHAT (that word looks mega weird when there are no spaces in between) I'm SICK and that's just my excuse for everything nowadays.

In painting class, we're doing (ugh, cliche) self-portraits. But OBVZ that's LAME so mine is totally gonna be way cooler. Waittilya see.

Things you could share AVEC MOI:

I love ruffles (catchup time - Saturday's outfits)

Because we had a long weekend (for Columbus Day), my friend and I went to Boston for the day on Saturday, and all we did was eat and shop and walk around the city :) My new goal in life? Spend some time living on Beacon Hill. It's so adorable there!

Sunday and Monday (and today) were spent sounding like a dying frog-man, i.e. my throat is killing me and I croak instead of talk. Looking at these photos reminds me of a better time...woe is me (cue melodramatic score)
I LOVE this dress. Easily one of my new favorite items. Personal challenge: see how many ways it can be styled!
My good friend did a fantabulous job snapping these pics of me in Boston Common - I wish I had him to photograph me all the time!

Hilarious exchange:
Me: I think ruffles are my new favorite thing.
Him: Like, in clothes or in chips?

BAHAHAH.

We got back to Providence just in time to go to Waterfire and then go out! It was a friend's birthday so he was throwing a big shebangster.

Restyled for night:

And drawings:

Hope you had a wonderful Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving/Coming Out Day!

find me in new york

I grew up in Upstate New York and I go to school in Rhode Island, but where I really want to be is New York City. I have no doubts about this.

So naturally, when the opportunity to take a cheap day trip to NYC came up, I was ALL OVA DAT. The art department at my school chartered a bus and you could either follow the group to the MoMA and Chelsea Market and various small galleries in Chelsea (which does sound like a great day), or you could do whatever the hell ya wanted, which is what I did, duh. :)

So first, I got dropped off at the Met. Beautiful museum. The MoMA is my absolute FAVORITE but I've been there so many times, and I'd only been to the Met once before. And the first time, I was underwhelmed. Or perhaps overwhelmed by the bajillions of rooms and galleries and time periods and global regions they cover. But I took it slow, my new baby Canon Rebel in tow and ENJOYED. The Met, you and I are in a torrid, cheap-motel affair, mmkay?
The bus was picking us up in Chelsea, so I had 7 hours to wander around the Met and get to Chelsea. I walked down Fifth avenue and across to the Chelsea, taking my sweet time and snapping pics and intensely shopping and taking in the amazing New York energy that I SO DESIRE TO BE A PART OF.

After fantastic shopping, passing at least 4 H&M's on the way down, I made it to Chelsea :) Which is probably my favorite neighborhood in Manhattan. Can I live there pleaseeee?

Anyway, more photos to come - remember Photography Phriday? :)

Due to having to leave very early in the morning, I was able to snap pictures in the bathroom since the entire sane universe is sleeping during the wee hours of the morning.

I downloaded a free trial of ColorSchemer to play around with color combinations, which led me to this, which I really adore.

Have any of you been drawing what you're wearing? If you are, I wanna seeee! showmeshowme!

mixing prints

One day, I hope to mix prints as well as Mondo (from Project Runway, current season).

I'm more of a solid-color-block kind of person, but I also love patterns.

Alright now. Leave me some adjectives/descriptive words that start with W or T!

have a good day!
